5 of our favourite YouTube stoners

There’s a new and growing generation of young people turning their back on traditional avenues and advertising platforms and using the increasingly influential marketing power of YouTube, albeit a demonetised one, to advocate for recreational cannabis use, as well as creative self-promotion.

From promoting their own cannabis companies to buying stuff online while high, here’s some of our favourite YouTube smokers.

Charly Jordan

Clubhouse star Charly Jordan, a model and DJ, as well as a creator of her own YouTube videos, has recently she added entrepreneurship to her list of skills, with the formation last year of Smoke Roses, her own cannabis company.

Smoke Roses is an organic rose petal cone business that’s made with no harmful chemicals, pesticides, dyes or artificial flavouring. Jordan conceived the product and business plan while she was travelling abroad and observing how different cultures chose to smoke.

“Roses are my best effort. I put my heart into creating a cleaner smoking alternative that I genuinely believe will help change the smoking industry toward more natural standards.”

In true YouTuber style, Charly promotes the use of her rose petal cones on her own smoking show, where she invites different guests to smoke and chat.

Tana Mongeau

One of the most controversial, and perhaps infamous YouTubers of this new generation is, Tana Mongeau.  The 21-year old started making and posting videos in 2015 and since then has amassed 5.4 million followers on the platform to date. She became famous for ‘storytime videos’ where she filmed herself recounting wild anecdotes about her life.

In June 2018 after being snubbed from VidCon, a YouTuber convention, Mongeau staged a competing event called TanaCon. This turned out to be one of the star’s biggest controversies as the event was oversold and fans were left waiting outdoors in lines with limited food and water. To add insult to injury, many fans also claimed they got sunburns as a result.

The star bounced back with her own ‘fly on the wall’  MTV show in 2019 called ‘Tana Turns 21’ where the audience followed her life of getting botox, going to LA parties and getting married to another famous YouTuber, Jake Paul.

Mongeau, an avid cannabis smoker, regularly makes videos of herself participating in weed culture. Namely, ‘get baked with me… i mean bake with me’ which involves her smoking and baking muffins.  Her 4/20 special video, where she smokes with friends, she promotes as her unique take on a YouTube favourite ASMR. ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) videos feature makers recording themselves doing something as simple as whispering and making sounds to create a sedative sensation that begins on the scalp and moves down the body. Mongeau’s take on this was making an ASMR video of her rolling a blunt and smoking it.

Adam22 – No Jumper

Adam John Grandmaison, or more commonly known as Adam22, is an American podcaster, journalist, internet personality and record executive. He is best known for being the creator and host of pop culture-oriented podcast No Jumper which has a massive fan following.

Adam22 is a big cannabis advocate, he’s regularly seen smoking in his vlogs, with guests on his podcast of which some episodes are sponsored by cannabis companies.

No Jumper partnered with Vancouver-based Next Green Wave Holdings Inc. in September 2019 to create a line of premium exotic flower strains with the products featured on the podcast.

Andrea Russett

Internet personality Andrea Russett is another creator with a large YouTube following. Predominantly a musician, she started posting on the platform in 2009 when she uploaded a music video entry for a contest to meet Justin Bieber. This video went viral and launched her career. She now has nearly 3 million subscribers and uses YouTube to promote her music, talk about her history with mental health and come out as bisexual.

Russett also makes comedic videos incorporating cannabis use. A particularly popular series is her ‘buying stuff while high’, where she smokes and goes online to buy miscellaneous items, often with entertaining outcomes. Other videos include ‘painting while high’, ‘doing my makeup while high’ and ‘writing a song while high’.

She’s also a big advocate for recreational and medicinal cannabis use as she talks openly about how smoking helps with her PTSD and anxiety.

STFUMatthew

If you’re looking for chilled out, no fuss videos with a lot of cannabis content then look no further. Matthew Bailey, or otherwise known by STFUMatthew, is a YouTuber with a slightly smaller audience but still creates great content to rival the bigger accounts. His channel is mainly focused on personal style, body art, food, cannabis and daily vlogs.

Some of his most popular videos consist of ‘cooking tacos and getting stoned’, ‘a day in the life of a stoner’ and ‘stoner tries eating vegan’. His calm persona and content definitely make his videos something to put on after a stressful day. He also has another account named ‘Bentley Blaze’ where he posts more in-depth cannabis content for the more committed smokers.
