Launched in 2019, leafie is a media platform exploring drugs and the cultural events that connect us all.
By mixing education and entertainment, leafie has been meeting a growing demand for unbiased and trustworthy information on substances, such as cannabis and psychedelics, that have for decades been unfairly vilified but are now seen as tools for improved health and wellness.
We welcome pitches from new contributors, especially those from communities currently underrepresented on leafie, as long as they are unique. Before pitching an idea, look at the leafie website and at similar publications to ensure your angle hasn’t been featured before.
We naturally seek pitches on our core subjects of cannabis and psychedelics. We also welcome adjacent content on hidden subcultures, human experiences, opinions, activism, movements, music, art, fashion and more. Stories do not have to directly link to drugs, but they do need to be interesting, unique and relevant to an audience that is curious about the world around them. Would your feature be interesting to read high? Would you retell the story at a party? If so, pitch it.
We are interested in pitches for stories from 500-2000 words, as well as pitches for photo-led features, illustrations and fiction. Creativity is welcome.
How to pitch us
Pitches should be concise and easy to understand. At the risk of rehashing a cliche, pitch stories, not ideas. Succinctly flesh out the subject, how the story will be told, and why you are the right person to write the article. Please do not send full articles, but do include relevant links to supporting material and published work.
We try our absolute best to reply to all pitches that follow the guidelines above, even if it is a polite no thank you.
To submit your pitch or flesh out an idea, send an email to contributors[@]leafie.co.uk – all pitches that are relevant and meet the criteria will be considered.
