Review – The Essence of Wellbeing

essence of wellbeing product range

The Essence of Wellbeing is a CBD brand passionate about living a healthy lifestyle. Founded by Mark Jones and Sarah Salisbury, the duo behind the brand turned to CBD to help with their own injuries and anxieties. After finding it not only eased their aches and pains but made their workouts more effective, they launched their range of CBD oils, protein powder and soothing balms.

After learning more about the brand back in January, we sent out a selection of their products to our independent review team to get some honest feedback. After a few weeks of real-world experience, here’s what our review had to say about some of the products in the Essence Of Wellbeing range:

CBD Infused Fair Trade Coffee

The first reaction from my wife as I brewed up the first cup of Essence Of Wellbeing CBD coffee was her asking “Is this going to chill us out as well as giving us our usual coffee buzz?” – and the TLDR is that, yes it hit both spots and was a nice change from our regular cup of mid-morning Joe.

Over the past few months, we’ve been combining on and off homeschooling for our 2 kids, with doing both of our full-time jobs and just about keeping it together as a family… The morning ritual of the first cafetiere going on about 10 am is the first treat to look forward to in a fairly ‘all over the place’ day.

I personally have been using CBD products for Crohn’s disease-related inflammation for many years and enjoy the extra relaxation side effects that it brings. So when combined with coffee I was interested to see what the impact would be.

Mixing this CBD coffee into our caffeine routine every couple of days for a fortnight definitely brought a delightful mellowness that balanced out the buzz.

In terms of opening the packet for the first time, the smell and overall freshness was spot-on and we kept it in the fridge to maintain its enjoyability.

The taste and overall feeling of satisfaction as it went down was well balanced in terms of richness. Neither too botanic or earthy in the other direction, I’d say Essence Of Wellbeing CBD coffee is a good choice in the mornings or mid-afternoon.

Having been a passionate coffee drinker for many years, I’m excited to put this into my usual routine and will definitely be keeping a bag in my fridge for regular consumption.

It will be interesting to see CBD added to more products in the future, as it doesn’t take away from the taste of the main ingredient but brings so many extra benefits – it’s a win-win really!

CBD & CBG Hemp Protein Powder

I’ve been in training for a marathon since the start of the new year, it’s my first marathon and the training is hard! I’m already a fan of CBD and cannabis in general, so I was excited to try the hemp protein powder, especially as it has added CBG, which I’ve read a lot about but haven’t yet tried in a product.

The protein blends as well as any other product into a recovery shake. There isn’t a lot of flavour if I am honest, but that isn’t a problem as I can often add a banana into my shakes especially after a big run. I’d probably want to use a flavoured option if I was drinking this after strength training.

I’ve tried other vegan protein powders in the past and they can be really gritty. I was expecting the texture of the Essence Of Wellbeing hemp protein to be like other vegan mixes, but that wasn’t the case. The packaging is nice, it has a very high-end feel. As someone who has tried a lot of CBD products I’ve seen some quite amateur looking products but I think this would really stand out on the shelves.

CBD & CBG Eucalyptus And Peppermint Balm

I used this blam after exercise such as yoga or cycling, which I do a lot. The balm has a pleasant scent of peppermint and eucalyptus that’s not too overpowering, sometimes these kind of rubs have a very clinical smell which is off-putting.

There’s not too much heat from the balm, but I felt a gentle warming to the muscles after using which was very relaxing after intense exercise.

I would say the rub is a little oily, so I only need to use a small amount.

This is the first CBD product I’ve used and so far I am impressed!

CBD Immune Support Capsules

I have been taking CBD capsules for a year or so now as I was looking for a product to help with my sleep, skin and hormones. I usually take 1 x capsule taking a night before bed. With it being winter I was excited to try Essence Of Wellbeing’s immune support CBD capsules as I liked the idea of the added vitamins to help ward off winter colds, as well as covid!

The tub the capsules come in is good quality, it has a nice heavy feel. The product feels and looks expensive.

I struggle with CBD oils because I don’t like the feel or flavour of the oil in my mouth, but these capsules have no nasty smell or taste. I did find the capsules larger than ones I have consumed before, perhaps because they have added ingredients?

I found using the CBD capsules helped with my skin and I noticed I am sleeping better, which is exactly what I hoped for.
