The International patient advocacy group We, The Patients is set to host a one-day talk on medical cannabis and chronic pain in London in November, aiming to bridge the gap between patients and healthcare professionals via a platform for dialogue and education.
The free event, scheduled for Friday, 7 November at The Charterhouse in Barbican, represents part of the organisation’s ongoing mission to reshape the European conversation around medical cannabis through patient-led advocacy.
Founded and chaired by Carola Pérez, We, The Patients has already hosted successful gatherings in Madrid and Zurich. The London event, organised in partnership with PatientsCann UK, will run from 11:00 to 16:00 with limited registration available online.
The conference, which takes place during Medical Cannabis Awareness Month, aims to bring together doctors, scientists, and advocates to develop a better understanding of cannabis-based treatments for chronic pain management. Patients will lead conversations designed to connect lived experience with scientific evidence.
“These events are not just conferences – they are bridges,” said Carola Pérez. “Patients are leading the way, inviting clinicians and researchers to walk alongside them. Together, we’re creating a new model of care – one built on empathy, knowledge, and real-life experience.”
The programme includes scientific insights on the latest evidence for cannabis-based chronic pain treatments, patient testimonies highlighting resilience and shared learning, and practical workshops featuring hands-on demonstrations of vaporisation techniques and terpenes, the aromatic compounds in cannabis with potential therapeutic value.
Organisers have designed the event to provide a safe and accessible space for all attendees. Features include on-site medical support for patients who may require assistance, scheduled breaks and rest areas throughout the day, and catering adapted to various dietary requirements, including vegetarian, gluten-free, and alcohol-free options.
Each patient will receive a welcome bag filled with useful items, and full video recordings will later be shared on the We, The Patients YouTube channel to ensure open access for those unable to attend.
The London event follows a parallel gathering in Bern, Switzerland, which took place on Saturday, 11 October at Hotel Bern in collaboration with Medcan Schweiz.
Registration for the London event is available at www.patientscann.org.uk. The event is organised in partnership with PatientsCann UK, a volunteer-led organisation directed by Mohammad Wasway that advocates for education and inclusive policies for medical cannabis patients across the UK.
We, The Patients describes itself as a European patient-led initiative dedicated to amplifying patient voices, improving access to cannabis-based medicines, and promoting evidence-based education. More information is available at www.wethepatients.eu.
