The celebrities investing in CBD

When it comes to celebrities, they just can’t get enough of CBD. Whether it’s throwing CBD-themed baby showers (see: Kim Kardashian West) or using it to relieve pain, stress and anxiety (Jennifer Aniston), it’s the ingredient of the moment.

Not just content with finding the CBD oil for them though, an increasing number of A-listers are developing products of their own. Here are the big names that have realised that CBD is big business, too.

Mike Tyson

Athletes have long recognised the benefits of CBD for improving performance and post-workout recovery, so it’s no surprise that former professional boxer and world heavyweight champion Iron Mike has founded his own cannabis company, Tyson Ranch. Committed to creating a connoisseur level product, each of those produced at his 40-acre ranch is meticulously inspected and tested for impurities at every stage of growing, curing and the packing process. Drawing on more than 50 years of industry experience, his team of experts have created a knockout range of cannabinoid-rich, full spectrum concentrates, edibles and DWiiNK – a hydrating CBD water.

Willie Nelson

Not just content with dominating the music world, Country Music Hall of Fame member Willie Nelson has embraced his other love with a signature line of CBD health and wellness products, Willie’s Remedy. As one of the most famous cannabis smokers on the planet, it’s probably not too surprising that he’s an early investor in the industry. As well as a hemp oil tincture that contains organic MCT oil derived from coconuts and hemp extract with five distinct cannabinoids and 14 cannabis terpenes, the range includes plant-enriched coffee and a soothing balm that Annie Nelson created in her kitchen and has used for years, along with her husband, his band and numerous friends to relieve sore muscles.

John Legend

In late 2019, Plus Products announced the launch of its first-ever 100% hemp CBD products and its partnership with singer John Legend. “A believer in the benefits of CBD for some time,” Legend has gone from consumer to investor, acting as an advocate for the company’s edible gummies, which were developed by Plus’s team of scientists, entrepreneurs, and chefs. Its flavours include Balance in blueberry, Uplift in grapefruit, and Sleep in blackberry tea flavour. Legend added: “I was drawn to the Plus team because they’re an innovative, family-run company, and they use science to deliver a consistent, high-quality product. I appreciate that they’re committed to setting a high standard within an industry that has to date been fairly unregulated.”

Montel Williams

Montel Williams went from the face of daytime television to one of CBD’s most high-profile advocates after a multiple sclerosis diagnosis. After his diagnosis, Williams struck up a passion for MS advocacy, launching the Montel Williams MS Foundation to raise money for research and also became interested in changing the stigma around medical marijuana. Taking his pain management treatment into his own hands, he’s created his own brand that’s the culmination of everything he’s learned during his own 20-year cannabis journey. With such personal reasons for investing in CBD, Montel aims to set the standard of excellence and ethical behaviour in the industry by providing better access to the highest-quality hemp-derived CBD and cannabis-derived THC oils. The range includes five THC oil products, each featuring different THC:CBD ratios, and two hemp-derived CBD oil products, ALERT and RELAX, which are available in gel capsules and designed to take in the morning or at night.
