Introducing Power Flower

Just as we’re here to sort the facts from the fiction on all things CBD, we’re also here to tell you about the latest innovations and brands that are putting their stamp on the market. Launching this month, Power Flower is your new go-to for full spectrum CBD oils and supplements with a zesty twist. Co-founder Lewis Darvill tells us how he went from touring DJ to budding CBD entrepreneur.

What were your first experiences with CBD?

Lewis says: “A few years ago, I had just finished a long tour DJing in the US. It’s a hectic lifestyle, and all of the sleep deprivation, travelling and being away from my young family was getting to me. I was really struggling with severe anxiety and couldn’t get off to sleep when I actually got the chance. I mentioned this to a friend in California – naturally, they were well ahead of the CBD curve over there and, despite being sceptical, I thought it was worth a try. I bought a bottle and touring became a lot more manageable.”

Why did you decide to create Power Flower?

“My introduction to CBD was when it was still relatively unheard of in the UK. When I got home, I realised there was a huge opportunity to share my experience with others. Information and access to suppliers was difficult at the time. A few trips around Europe to farms and producers later, I decided to go for it and launch Power Flower.”

Who do you hope will benefit from your products?

“Our products benefit anyone who wants to be more in control of their daily life. Perhaps it’s because of who we are, but our customers tend to fall into an age bracket of people who came of age in the ’90s or early 2000s. They might have played or partied hard when they were younger, but now they’re a bit older and are focused on families, careers or businesses. Power Flower can help them deal with the stresses of modern life without turning to the pitfalls of alcohol or modern medicines, which can make things worse.”

What makes you different from the competition?

“We’re very passionate about our products, we worked with suppliers for over a year, perfecting the taste of our CBD oils. Quality is important too, as well as having lab reports from suppliers for all our products, we use a third-party lab to verify the contents. We’ve got some new, unique products in the pipeline that we think our customers are going to love, too.”

Does the CBD market have long-term potential?

“Absolutely. More and more people are adopting more sustainable ways of living. Whether that’s through the ways we work, the foods we eat and the choices we make when it comes to relaxing and unwinding. CBD has quickly grown from a bit of a health fad to a must-have supplement, and cannabinoids, in general, are making their way into more and more products.

“CBD and other cannabinoids will continue to become both exciting stand-alone supplements and beneficial ‘super food’ style ingredients. From our perspective, much of our customer base is based on referrals from the family and friends of our customers, so we’re obviously doing something right.”

Do you think it needs to be better regulated?

“Any boom industry will attract shady characters, but the CBD industry is already quite difficult to crack, and that acts as a significant barrier. Many of the reports of mislabelled or misreported contents in products were actually just variations in methods of testing, but it made great headlines. Of course, with any product people consume there should be regulation and scrutiny. We work closely with our suppliers to ensure all of our products are organically sourced and free from harmful chemicals and pesticides.”

What are your hopes for Power Flower?

“There are many brands out there that want to be the biggest or the cheapest, but to do so they have to make sacrifices on quality or service. We will continue to build a brand that works around our customers, creating high-quality cannabinoid-based products that help them in their day-to-day lives. Our strapline is that Power Flower is a ‘good life supplement’ and that’s what we’ll continue to offer – to help people live a good life.”
